Could Bionic Reading Help with People With Dyslexia?

ree

One of my pupils has introduced me to a new reading system called ‘bionic reading’. Bionic reading is a system where initial parts of each word are highlighted in bold font. My pupil describes his experience of reading bionic reading text as instinctive. He feels that it helps with the accuracy of his reading and his ability to track text with his eyes.

It makes sense to me that someone with dyslexia would find this system helpful. Many people with dyslexia read by reading key parts of the word and then guessing the word. This is why they read words so much better in the context of a passage than as unrelated words in a list.

It’s got to be worth a try. If you have dyslexia and are finding this post easier to read than my other posts, please like it so that I know. Please share it too. If by posting I can help one person with dyslexia read with greater ease, it will have been worth my posting.
